I bought this after seeing reviews of the version that does not have the 1.5 gallon hopper(see Automatic Cat Feeder-CSF-3 Super Feeder W/basic Timer on Amazon for over 20 reviews). It works great, but make sure you set the adjustment for the amount of food that is dispensed before you get it installed with food in it, as you can not change the adjustment with food in it. There is also an adjustment for the length of time that the food is dispensed as well as the width of the opening. The timer that comes with it is not that hot, but works. Its problem is that it is easy to hit the levers for the time settings, especially when you are plugging the timer in. I replaced it with a digital timer from Home Depot made by GE for about .98. It's a 7 day programmable, model 15079 (with two outlets). They also have a single outlet model (15089) that is .98, which I would have gotten if they had any in stock. These have 20 on and 20 off settings that can be set to the exact minute. It also has the advantage of being able to force the food dispenser to dispense food twice in a matter of a couple of minutes as opposed to the original timer's minimum of 60 minutes. If you have lots of animals to feed you may want that feature. The minimum time between food settings on the CSF-3 dispenser is 2 minutes. For some reason, they have a switch that sets this minimum time to either 1-2 minutes or 30-60 minutes (mine came set to 1-2 minutes). The dispenser works in the cold also. It's been near 10 degrees F for the last week here at night and not above freezing during the day.

This feeder, like other Super Feeders, can be electronically adjusted to feed from a very small amount to a cup or more with multiple cycles.
